King Flannel Sheets For A King Sized Bed

People sleep anywhere from seven to nine hours a night. More if they can. While that's not half a day, it is still a very large portion. The nicer the bed, the more comfortable we sleep. And it's the little but big things that can make all the difference. Little big things like king flannel sheets and overstuffed pillows add just that right sense of coziness to the bed.

Beds come in all sizes. Many of the larger first world countries have their own variations on size when it comes to mattresses. The more common luxury mattresses in North America are the king mattresses. King flannel sheets fit a king mattress that is up to twenty inches. A good king sheet set should include pillow cases made for king sized pillows. It's a sort of 'go big or go home' attitude but it helps to ensure the bed looks symmetrical.

Large king mattresses and their even bigger counterparts, California king, do not come with box springs to match. What a person usually has to do is buy two single box springs and put them side by side beneath the king mattress. While this is convenient and solves the challenge, it means that when we buy sheets sets we need to be careful. Does our king flannel sheets set come with a bed skirt? If it does, will that skirt fit appropriately over the two single box springs? The fit is usually good but can be awkward to place at first.

Flannel, often called flannelette, is first mentioned in early France and Germany. It is a soft woven material that comes with a rougher surface referred to as a nap. In most fabrics, after production there is that rougher side. This is typically sheared off. With flannel, it is trimmed but remains. That's how flannel gets to be so warm and cozy. If you're going to be out buying a king flannel sheets set, keep in mind that this is one warm material. If you live in an area with hot summers, consider something else for the warmer seasons.

Flannel surprisingly has an interesting modern association. In the cities of Seattle and Vancouver, the grunge music scene picked up what lumberjacks in the area used to wear. Flannel clothing has always been especially prized by people working outdoors. Somehow the grunge rockers found a way to incorporate it in their look. Now flannel is known for musicians like Kurt Cobain and Stone Temple Pilots.

A new type of king flannel sheets is now available from the store JCPenney. They are Micro Flannel, a trademark of the JCPenney company. And surprisingly, they come with some really great features. They are considered wrinkle free, meaning that the travel from the dryer to the mattress doesn't ruin their look with creases or wrinkles. And because they are so easy to wash and dry, they lessen the time it takes for them to get clean in either the washer or the dryer. This means less energy taken from the earth to do the laundry, an especially important consideration for someone running a bed and breakfast, with many king flannel sheets in their house.

Although some sheets have pockets to make them hold in heat, flannel doesn't require such. We usually see a strong material like flannel used in winter pyjamas for children or pants for adults to sleep in at night. Wearing flannel pyjamas doesn't actually compare to being tucked away in the bed of our dreams in king flannel sheets. But it's a good feeling all the same.

Having a bed big enough to handle king flannel sheets sounds like a true luxury. Having all that room to roll around in, without bumping anyone else who has joined in your cozy little world of warmth, sounds utterly divine. A king sized bed, the right type of flannel sheets, and some good company would make anyone stay home on a Monday!
